About
Bell and Tucker is a collaborative partnership of faux artisans, William Bell and Brooks Tucker. Bell and Tucker have organized together in a teacher/apprentice relationship. After 30 years in the faux finishing industry, Bell realized the importance of teaching his craft to the next generation. He hand selected Tucker out of dozens of possible candidates based on his artistry, integrity and work ethic. They work together as a team on each project from concept to completion under the leadership of Bell. Together they have been perfecting their faux finishing techniques for a combined 35 years.
William Bell was born and raised in Manhattan. He graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City. He began his career in European Old Master’s Art restoration. After completing a restoration internship at Versailles Palace in France, inspired by the extensive faux treatments, Bell launched a career as a faux artisan working throughout the United States including New York, Chicago and Beverly Hills. He was commissioned to Middle TN over 20 years ago and fell in love with the area. His work has been in high demand ever since. He holds the distinguished honor of winning awards for Best Faux Artisan in twenty (every) Parade of Homes shows he has entered in the area. He has continued his education in Milan, Italy at Spatula Stuhhi’s design facility and is one of only a handful of certified Venetian Plaster artisans in the United States.
Brooks Tucker is a 6th generation Texan born into a Navy family. As a teenager he spent several years in Italy and travelled extensively throughout Europe. It was here that he developed an appreciation of time worn plasters and Old World design. He attended college at Southwest Texas where he discovered a talent for singing and entertaining. He moved to Nashville with wife Dana in 1997 and pursued a music career. In 2002, their 2 year old twins were diagnosed with autism. Brooks stayed home with the children full time to manage their therapies and education. All the while he was experimenting with paint colors and textures in his own home. After seeing the amazing finishes he was creating in his own home friends and family started requesting Brooks to paint for them as well. After studying under Martin Allen Hirsch at the Faux Finish Institute in Louisville, KY Brooks decided to pursue a full time career in faux painting. He launched Faux Daddy Designs in 2006. He has continued to study under accomplished faux artisans throughout his career which led to his collaboration with William Bell.
